| About Amy | amywaeschle@comcast.net | |
| As
a little kid, Amy used to write stories for her parent's dinner party guests. In school she liked her writing subjects best, and
contributed to her high school newspaper, serving as editor during her
senior year. In college, she put serious writing aside and focused
on her passion for science and the outdoors, earning a degree in geology.
After years working for the National Outdoor Leadership School as a field
instructor, Amy returned to school, earning a Masters in Teaching from
Seattle University.
After three years teaching middle school science, Amy gave up life in the classroom for an opportunity to write full-time. She now makes her living freelance writing for magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and websites as well as writing advertising copy for Patagonia, the "Gucci" of the outdoor clothing world. In between Patagonia contracts and freelance assignments, Amy focuses her time on marketing her first novel, Deception Bay, and editing her third, Feeding the Fire. She will be meeting with agents and editors this July at the Pacific Northwest Writers Conference in Seattle, Washington, the same venue where she received the finalist award for her short story, Making a Pie with Grandma, in 2005. |
